“It is the most vi-
vid memory I have of
us – this edgy, sharp but dim moment.
We went along this stormy alley, and I was only
interested in arriving at a calm place that night, this
lofty mall we used to hang out at. At that point, I didn’t
focus on the track at all.
Suddenly one of these brittle trees just fell, hit the vehicle and the
power unit started to burn.
You saw me lying there helplessly and managed to escape from
the pod to pull me out through the broken window, leaving
scratches on my calves.
They still remain, and every time I look at myself in the re-
flector from behind, I’m reminded of the graciousness
you showed me, saving me from
my own mistakes.”
